It's a result of the original engine not being optimized for modern systems. This is because the CPU is doing a lot of what would normally be done by the GPU in a modern game. You'd think that "It's old, so it should run" but it's not optimized for modern systems and is harder to run on newer PCs than you might expect as a result, especially with all the stuff source ports add in, and the added stuff PB and Brutal Doom add on top of that.Ī desktop can power through it, but a laptop that isn't designed for gaming with a 2.00 GHz CPU is going to struggle. Due to the age of the game, source ports for Doom and Doom II actually use more CPU than Doom 3 does. ![]() The issue here is that GZDoom, and any modern Doom source port, is very CPU heavy. Your GPU doesn't matter much regarding Classic Doom though anyway. ![]() Though, you probably are using some form of integrated graphics on your mobo, which isn't great for gaming, but could be worse. You're going to need to turn down your options pretty low in GZDoom. Not a gaming laptop either, probably some type of netbook. Neither is very useful info for this sort of troubleshooting.īased on your CPU, I've figured out that you're probably on a laptop. It's not a magic key to your PC or anything, but is really only relevant to your network and windows install. Product and device ID is for Windows, device name is just for your network, and while mostly harmless, I don't recommend posting those online for security reasons.
